What I’ve Learned From Completely Cleaning Out Every Aspect Of My LIfe

I have always been the person to keep adding clutter to the problem. Either the problem was relationships, or work related, or just the plain old house clutter. I always managed to find myself adding to the problem. “More,” is not the solution to life, rather it is less.

This year I have focused on simplifying my life, for the better. Becoming a minimalist has allowed me to access the greater things in life that the world has to offer. For one example, I stopped wearing makeup. I grew up with an odd obsession for makeup, wearing it every day, I saw it as a beauty enhancer to my life. As I grew older, I accepted the fact that makeup wasn’t something I actually loved, it was something I used to hide my insecurities. Now, I’m not saying that makeup is negative, many people love the process, but for me it wasn’t the process that I loved. I loved the fact that I could change myself from my natural state. I understand now, that it’s not something I need. Plus, I’m saving a lot of money since terminating 100 pounds of makeup out of my life.

I have the mindset… if something isn’t bettering me and improving me… get rid of it. This has alway been and important factor, as it continues the betterment of my life. Using only things you “need” instead of things you “want,” helps your overall perception of life. Materialistic things do not help your living situation, designer clothes don’t make you a better person, the five hundred pairs of nike shoes you own, aren’t making you run any faster. What I’m saying is, you do not gain from materialistic objects. If you are gaining anything in life, it is from the influence of your heart, mind, and soul.

We as humans can be anything we want, but we would rather have materialistic, ideological figures and objects define our slowly decaying race till the end. We could be doing anything with our lives right now, but we are focused on the latest episode of the Kardashians, or our favorite brand’s new launch. WHY. Why does out society cling to a life of clutter and objects that will never mean anything in the end, when we could be experiencing, travelling, loving, and living.

Material objects do not define our lives. Our experiences do.
